I'm not bothering with an MP3 yet.

I've got a personal CD player but I want to run it from the bike.

It's got a car kit but obviously that's bulky - any slimline ideas I could consider?

why not use your record player, it'll fit on the rear rack .

Mp3 player?:D Seriously, you can get one for next to nowt. I bought this one recently. Holds more tracks than I can play on my average ride. Doesn't jump or skip like a cd player. One AAA battery lasts about 2 hours. With Win XP you can just drag and drop files onto it. It's plug and play too. It comes witha program to rip Cd tracks to MP3 files.
You'll never look back. I gottta get an MP3 player for the car now. CDs are dead.

You'll have a job getting it mounted properly without any jiggles that'll make it skip Jammie......in fact, I'd bet that you could get a decent 5gig MP3 jobbie for what it'd cost you to mount the CD player effectively....

I'd try just wrapping it in a big fluffy jumper and sticking it in a topbox or tankbag with earplug speakers at your end if you have to stay with it.

Or try Steve the Ram Man......he's pretty good at stuff like this :D

cheapest way.

Trailing socket for car type cigarette lighter - wired direct from battery in to tank bag.

Car kit - you've got - plugged in

cd player in top clear section of tank bag to keep it vibe free.

headphones out of tank bab.

it'll work .

Me CD player doesnt jump though. And I only really use it for weekends away, and if I fancy it on the way to work, other than that, it's a bit of a faff TBH.

Loading onto PC, then onto MP3. Can you get spare memory sticks jobbies?

It Just seems a lot of money and faffing for summat I only use occasionally, I certainly wont be using it around the house or day to day. When I'm going to work batteries last well.

I dunno, maybe I'll stick with batteries, just thought there may be a cheap and cheerful way of plugging straight in.

Thats what I do now - Oh well, I'll figure summat
