Hi y'all, :thumb
Well, after joining this site a few months ago I finally bought an 03 Adventure in black at the weekend. I was told that black was fastest....Since I know very little about GSs, no doubt I will be asking a lot of boring questions for some considerable time. Having ridden about 300 miles over Saturday and Sunday, I am thrilled with the bike and its handling. Being only 5ft 8ins. it does seem very tall however, even with the low seat option and I was wondering if the bike can be lowered even further ( without letting the air out of the tyres ) at a reasonable cost. Any thoughts?
Only two little niggles. For some reason, the clock goes back to 0.00 every time the bike is started. Anyone else had this experience and, if so, is there a cure? Secondly, the bolts that hold on the brake discs show signs of corrosion. Can they be easily cleaned up or is there a source of stainless steel ones anywhere?
Any help will be greatly appreciated and even the humour of the pisstakers.
Ride safe. ;)

Hi Lukate, :thumb
Nothing much gets past you. The Pan is still in the garage and will still be favourite for continental touring. The GS is for the twisties. Thanks for your welcome.
One more question: Are the exhaust pipes on an Adventure stainless steel? Mine are badly tarnished and I need advice on the best way of bringing up the shine again.
Ride safe.

If you are refering to the header pipes? then yes they are stainless. If I ever get the urge to shine them up a bit I use fine wire wool and elbow grease

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, whoever said I would be grinning from ear to ear when I picked my 1200 up was right, I cant explain it, I might only ride back from work but, I just grin all the way. Ride safely!

Reasonable cost ????

Sounds like a low set of ohlins shocks are what you need but I wouldn't call them reasonable.

Welcome to crazytown :thumb

Clock going to zero is due to low voltage when the engine is cranking. Check battery terminals and electrolyte level. Could be starter motor. Most likely battery on the way out.
