Pocklington area - Glider and trailer storage wanted

Long shot, but worth a try….I have a glider including trailer thats based at Pocklington airfield ( Wolds gliding club )during the summer but I would like to store the trailer complete with glider inside over the winter months. If there’s anybody with a secure barn/hangar that can accommodate a 9m x 2 x 2 trailer I would be very interested in renting out the space.

Have you looked / sounded-out anywhere around the old Melbourne airfield not far from Pock?
There’s an office ( ///whoever.imitate.accompany ) where they might be able to point you in the right direction locally

For what it’s worth, I keep my large motorhome at a livery stables. By their nature, these places often have a lot of room and / or sometimes empty barn type buildings. Security is generally pretty good, not least as horses are not cheap.

I have tried a couple of storage companies around Pocklington with no joy, but will have a trip to Melbourne strip and see if it’s possible or get any leads from them. Cheers for your reply

It doesn’t have to be close, but finding any where suitable is proving challenging. It makes sense not to have to drag a 9M trailer from one end of the country to another, hence a location nearer if possible.

They think it will work, as they have a long, secured barn on site, which can take it.

It’s in NW London (Mill Hill). That means:

Pocklington to Sheffield. Then straight down the A1, to the junction with Watford Way. Then a short hop on a pretty good suburban road for about a mile and a half.

If you find nothing local, it’s a start.

Hello, yes I think so thanks. I have been speaking with a lady called Claire at Rufforth and its looks like they have space for the glider. The guy I need to speak with is on jury duty for two weeks at present, also I’m still waiting for the annual inspection to be completed on the glider. Once thats signed off and Simon is available I can sort a date to take it across. Thank you for passing over the info, I just assumed they would be full with their own aircraft. There is no room at the Inn at Pocklington inside.
