Pogos to Morocco - a quick taster - Sept/Oct 2008 (tba)

TROs, Ramblers, horses and Janet Street-fecking-Porter frustrate us all when we ride the lanes of England and Wales. So a few of us are hatching plans for an off-road raid to Morocco later in the year.

Dates are still to be set, but September or October is the most likely time.

This will definitely be well-prepared pogos and vans (or trailers at a push) hooning across France and Spain. Shared driving stopping only when absolutely necessary in order to minimise the travel time and maximise the riding time.

The bikes don't get unloaded until we're deep into Morocco and will be used for backup and carriage of kit and spares.

Four, perhaps five, days trail riding before we head back to the UK.

Please PM me with expressions of interest. Let me know your preferred dates; what bike you have; if you have a van and/or trailer (how many bikes will it carry?); anything else you think I need to know.

Mike and I would definelty be up for this, need to discuss with missus first, but should'nt be a problem.

Mike has a Renault Master van, so could get 3, maybe 4 bikes in at a push, the cab has 3 seats, but to be honest you would'nt want to be 3 up for a drive to Morroco, we went to Romania a couple of years ago and it got pretty uncomfy. We'd be happy to take someone elses bike and they fly and meet them there, as long as the cost is shared!

Mike and I went to Morroco last year in October with Motoaventures and it was pretty hot, so would rather go that time of year than September when it would be hotter, but pretty flexible to be honest.

Cheers

I'm intrested - not sure if my airhead counts as a pogo.

May still have my Jeep and I know a man with a box trailer who wants to sell it but wont have by then because he's to busy doing other stuff.....super enduro r ;-)

I think I am right in saying Ramadam is in september this year. I was in Morocco with Tim Cullis during ramadam last year and it was not a time I would go again: couldn't even get a coffee before sunset outside of tourist areas.

I'm very interested!

Sounds like ideal proving ground for my freshly acquired Xchallenge. :bounce1

Would an HP2 count... ridden by a n00bie? :o

Also - I, currently, don't have access to a van or trailer... however I do have a good friend who hires vans - I could look in to what the deal would be to hire one for international travel.

Thanks for the honesty Ming - if I get myself organised enough to find the space and money for pogo, I'll get in touch :thumb2

Sounds like the start of something good. :thumb2

I might pitch my name in, depending on how the bike does when I'm there in April. If it happens and someone needs to ride their bike down I'll be able to take their gear on the back of mine.
