I am looking into building a comprehensive database of POI in Basecamp (or an alternative if I can find one suitable).

I am going to list them under individual countries and characterized by symbol.

I have quite a collection of places I have been ( mainly Europe and Chile / Peru) but want lots of others

I am willing to share this on an ongoing basis as it is built up if people will contribute by supplying POI with reliable GPS coordinates.

The idea is that route planning may become easier when people know what is around the area where they are visiting. Also suitable hotels etc can be found

Any suggestions welcome

Yes

I have seen that and there is some useful info on there.

WW1 and WW2 sites are useful.

M&S and Mc Donalds were not on my list.

to give some idea.

Kutna Hora
City in the Sky - Cuenca
Colca Canyon - best place to see the condors
Ice caves near Saltzburg
Krimml waterfalls
Batu caves - malaysia
Tatia Geysers - chile
Oasis - just south of Iquique - chile
Meteor craters - chile

I have many more
