i had a problem with my touchpad and not the mouse...it would freeze the pointer and it would blink.. was the touch pad driver

If it vanishes when you start typing, there's something you can set to stop it doing that.
But if you just watch the screen and do nothing and after 10s it disappears it's probably a bug. The pointer shouldn't disappear unless there's a good reason for it.
