Anyone have any experience of this region.
Thinking of renting holiday hoose in September in this region.
The usual procedure, I will ride down. Louise will fly and have the bed warm for my arrival.

Some friends live there, nice rolling countryside inland. Ile de Re is lovely if a tad too touristy in St Martin. Try www.gites-de-france and look at how cheap you can get decent accomodation....real 'gites' owned by local folk for a bit of extra cash. We get a 6 bedded detached place in central France at October half term for £200 the week!

Been there a few times

Oradour-sur-glane is worth a visit and there plenty of other little sites worth a visit.

I've been to La Rochelle a couple of times on the bike. Easiest route is from St Malo but cheapest is Le Havre. I can recommend the BB Hotel in La Rochelle if you want a cheap centrally located hotel with parking. Food around the harbour area is not too expensive and there are boat trips to islands and Fort Boyard.
