Tsiklonaut, I'm certainly not interested in wringing the neck of my GS, I nearly always short shift just after 5K. What I am worried about though is if the bike isnt revving past 6K on the counter, is the rev limiter working? Should I miss a gear and this is the case, might I not damage the engine? Also the extra rev range gives you a safety margin while overtaking or cornering hard, thats why they make bikes rev past peak power. Perhaps those saying give it a break would rather run into a brick wall or lose all power at 6K while overtaking a lorry or in the middle of a nice high speed banked corner. Or perhaps they dont do overtakes or high speed corners ;)

The thing is, it should redline, it should hit the limiter hence this might be a sign of a more serious problem. This tied in with the fact that the ABS warning lights come on when working the bike hard in the lower gears makes me think that this is the case. The bike is booked in tonight as I still have a months warranty left. I'll let you know the diagnosis.

For those of you who are wondering... and havent read my other thread, the rev counter was faulty. It was replaced under warranty along with the rear abs sensor and I now delight in seeing 7500 (when required of course) ;)

Get out there and wring its neck :D
