POLY V BELT

I service my own bike ie air filter spark plugs and oils
+brake pads now theres 45000km on her i have a motoarrd
maintance schedule it says the poly v belt needs replacement after 40000km
is this a hard job or should i take her to a specialist also apart
from timing is there anything else i should check change at this service.
oh yea the bike is a 1999 model/2001 reg 1100gs

It's just an ordinary "fan belt" driving the generator. Very simple to replace and low risk that you destroy anything.

Easy job. There is even a tensioner on the near side to help you. Suggested wisdom is to tighten the belt until with reasonable force you can twist the belt no more than 90degrees
