Poor running

back on track for a minute guys, wondered if my problem could be related to running V-power fuel so just wondered what everyone else uses?

Wouldn't have thought so. I run my 1150 on expensive petrol and find it runs better - smoother and faster. Burnt valves could mean that the bike is running lean - what exhaust system are you running and have you fitted a PC or had a remap?! What do Sherlocks say?

Tyfio: If you need a hand, I'm just down the road in Redbourn and know my way round an 1150 pretty well. Drop me a PM if required:)

On EFI bikes with catalytic converters, they always run lean. In fact 14.7:1 is the hottest exhaust. Leaner than 14.7 is cooler and richer than 14.7 is cooler. So leaner than stock won't burn the valve.

Maybe the replacement valve was never quite seated properly and has been leaking just enough to burn it over time? Either that or there's something else slightly amiss in the valve train. Can't be a coincidence the same valve have gone surely?

Many thanks for the offer, may very well take you up on that!:thumby:

so Sherlock's have said that it is the other exhaust valve on the same side this time. I would have thought that would have been checked at the same time, will know more when I go to collect either tomorrow or Wednesday.
