poorly rockster

hi guys wonder if you can give me some advise,r1150r rockster 2003,18000 miles,its hesitant when accelerating ,feels definatly like fueling ,it has a y peice fitted lambda sensor is connected ,and has an aftermarket type can ,new air filter plugs etc etc,valve clearances are correct .i have took the brass screws out of the injector housing cleaned and put back in to three turns out .
still the same .
i dont know if this bike has been stood for a long time as i have just bought it last night .
any advise please

I would put fresh fuel in to start with if you have not already done so.

Sounds like coil sticks, loads of threads detailing symptoms on the site.

do you know that did cross my mind ,anyone in the north east got a pair i could try

a quick update,i have left the engine running and pulled each coil stick off ,and its still running the same ,thats with them both disconected,IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE BOTH COILS GO OFF TOGETHER so it obviously running on the secondary plugs underneath .
should i be looking elsewhere or do you think this is possible for the two to go off.

I think that you'll find that it is a progressive weakening not sudden catastrophic failure. The insulation breaks down and the spark gets weaker. It fails to fire as it should under heavier engine load such as when trying to accelerate hard. It may still tick over fine.

The secondary plugs are fired from a separate coil assembly which on the 1150 GS is under the fuel tank behind the headstock. It will run on the secondaries. I'd pull off both secondary leads and see if it will still start on both pots, then try to rev it and see if it stumbles. Borrowing known good sticks is the easy way to test. It only takes a minute to pull a stick and swap it.
