Uninstall any trial versions you may have...

I have done a search and a manual look through the files and cant find anything with McAfee in the title I guess they have hidden it

check to see if there is an extension in any browsers you use. I have recently bought a new Asus laptop and it came with a trial version of McAfee and a 1 year licence. I decided not to keep it after starting the trial. Too intrusive and Windows Defender is perfectly adequate. I deleted the program but this did not delete the Webadvisor extension in the MS Edge & Chrome browsers.
If that does not get rid of it, check your system for malware. It might not be a genuine McAfee thing but a phishing tool that has infested your system hoping you put your credit card details into their fake website.
https://www.malwarebytes.com/solutions/virus-scanner is pretty good and free for a manual scan

Macafee seems to be a plague, if it isn’t ads, it’s dodgy emails, and they never go away. I always block the emails as the “unsubscribe” button at the very best confirms to these parasites that your email address is connected to a person, and at worst will connect you directly to the seventh gate of hell.

it would be nice if our useless waste of oxygen in Westminster could do something about scammers, but they can’t sort shit in rivers or the NHS out, so virtual crap will be low priority I guess.

Have a look in your Settings/System/Notifications, you may find McAffee listed if so switch it off. Also switch off Google Chrome notifications.
That may solve your problem.

Anything subscription based, MacAfee, Norton etc imho is money for old rope!!

They take up masses of storage, hog key system resources and can slow your system to the point of instability.

I call their so called worrying pop ups “Payment for Paranoia”.
I’d uninstall it at the earliest instance and use the pretty decent Windows Defender (Part of the Windows OS since NT).
Combine using that with a decent pop up blocker extension in your Chrome browser (Others are available!) and you should be good to go.

Are you certain it’s from them ? It could be a scam.

In my experience there’s a very fine line between McAfee and a malicious scam!

As others have said, it will be a browser extension if it’s not appearing in add/remove menu

One of the many reasons I loathe windows is this bundling with bloat ware that they allow/encourage

The nuclear option is to save your files somewhere, nuke the drive and put win pro on as the operating system. Worth the money imo

The home edition is an advertising platform
