Take a look at this thread, it shows a GS1200 as one of the bikes.
Looks like Timpo and Timolgra were present, so they may be able to offer better advice on how it coped, but as Markie pointed out, it all depends on your riding ability.
In my experience the size of the bike doesn't make that much difference unless you are in mud (maybe sand not too good either) , have to pick it up or even worse get it off of your leg. If you have a couple of other riders with you, you should be fine, if on your own, I wouldn't advise it....only my thoughts, I am sure someone else will have another view

Thanks for that, interesting thread and write up. I wouldn't do it on my own but it would be fine with a 1200 I think. Like you say, depends on your skill and attitude really.
