Has anyone experimented with the position of the Sat Nav?
Does raising its position with a modified frame impede the movement of the screen.
I'm a tall person so I can't see the clocks properly.

I've had a look at those solutions and they all seem create problems for power and security of the device.

I was thinking of extending the mount a bit where it's bolted to the frame.

Yes, I wasn't able to find it for you to provide a link, but on another forum someone came up with a solution for us tall guys. You remove the OEM BMW "GPS Prep" mounting bar and elongate one of the two holes on each side. This allows you to pivot the bar up and forward somewhat, which raises the GPS in relation to the clocks. You can also loosen the 4 little bolts that hold the mount clamped to the bar and vary that angle some, as well, although reflections can become more of an issue if you tilt it up much. I did the pivot hole elongation on mine and it worked very nicely, but what I also did was slide the GPS over toward the left so it was more above the speedo than the tach, and that also helped because the speedo sits a little lower. The shape of the bar only lets you go so far, but still, it makes a difference. Hope this helps. ETA: Found it! This image belongs to MWHITE5471 over on ADVRider; he is the brilliant fellow who came up with this mod. Below is a pic of how he slotted the mount holes.

Oh, I neglected part of your question. I think that the screen can now touch the back of the GPS mount when the screen is in the lowest position now, so you may lose a small amount of adjustability if you perform this mod. I would not leave the screen touching the back of the mount, as it might introduce more vibration than the GPS would tolerate.
