When I bought my bike, the salesman said there was a backrest available for the pillion passenger that incorporated some type of back pack that simply locked onto the back of the backrest and easily removed upon arrival.

Does anyone know of anything like this as an alternative to using a topbox?

Thanks in advance.:)

From the description i.e. a backpack that locks in to a backrest I can only think he means the Ventura luggage system. The backpack is turned the other way than the picture below (i.e. facing backwards) when you have a pillion. I've had this system on some of my other bikes and from recollection it says in the literature in big letters that it's not a backrest.

Thanks GSmonkey, thats the one.
The wife will have to keep looking for something to support her back then :(
Hoped not to use a topbox...

Anyone used or seen one of these?
If so what is their strength like. It seems they are mounted onto the plastic rack.
I am looking to see whether a backpack could be secured behind it or not. What does anyone think?
£295 seems a bit steep too:(

Not sure if it's what your after, but I've got a givi topbox with a backrest "cushion" built in, got it on ebay for £40. I don't take passengers often but when I do they like it.
