Possible Holiday - if I can get the wife to agree

We don't know from the OP what age his kids are, but going by the fact that his son is willing and able to ride down with him on his own bike, It's fair to assume they are 'of age'
I think you may have misread my post. I was simply suggesting, from a gurly's point of view, that what works for a couple, e.g. Den and Louise, might not work quite so well for the OP's family of four - especially if, as the OP has said, hiring a car is out of the question.

But I'd genuinely be interested to see if anyone has experience of this type of family fly/ride holiday. :thumb

Fly/ride

I did just as you are thinking of doing last year. I rode to the south of France and wife, daughter son in law and grand kids flew. We hired a lovely house in La Napoule for a week. It all worked really well. La Napoule is not very far from Nice although we did hire a car for the week from the airport. This was a ggod idea as daughter and family could use that and we ( me and wife ) used the bike. I also called into see son on way home in Chamonix. I think the house was booked through James villas.
Cheers Glenn.

Thanks for the replies - thinking of flying to Nice and then seeing what we can find near there for accommodation.

Time to trawl the internet...............

Unless any Forum users just happen to know of a really really good villa :D ;) :thumb :Motomartin

Ryanair fly from London Stansted into Lourdes, then you would be in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Lourdes has a good rail and bus link so there would be no problem in travelling out to other cities. There are lots of lovely gites to rent in the area, we have a gite but its only suitable for a couple.

CityJet fly from London City into Pau, also a good base for exploring the Pyrenees.

We have had bikers stay and have picked the pillions up from the airport, this way everyone is happy ;)
