Picked up a used Rallye seat for my GSA and to be honest an finding it fairly comfortable but could maybe benefit from a gel pad insert , think it might also end up with a bit of a colour change as well as the white sides look a bit chatty

Ask about the air pad insert that they do. My Rallye seat from my new 1250 is there at the moment, being reshaped and having an air pad fitted.

Got it sorted , colour match is quite good but it looks a bit orange due to flash photography, the profile has been changed and flattened out with more foam added at the front of the saddle

Dropped it off and it was done in 2 weeks, they do postage as well

I got mine from there with the air pad built in. It’s brilliant and easily adjustable on the move with a button on the seat side.

Can you tell me a bit more about this air pad thingy and what does the switch do?

It’s like an air hawk external pad but it is fitted inside the seat. Saddlecraft sell the external pads as well.
When sat on the bike if you press and hold the button in, it deflates to your desired pressure. If you want to re-inflate, you raise your weight off the seat and press and hold the button. I’ve had them on 2 bikes now and it’s just brilliant and so easy to use.

Thanks R1happy

Would you rate it better than having a gel insert put in then?

I need to get my rallye seat sorted, it’s a tad too high and bit too firm, just need to decide which way to go with it.

Yes definitely. I did the testing for Saddlecraft when they first started thinking about doing it. They have done a number of bikes for me over the years and my 1250 seat was there as soon as I got my bike home having ridden 100 miles from the dealer.

I had the prototype on a LC rider seat which had been reshaped. Had to hand it back so they could work on it for production, so they replaced it with a gel pad. That was good but not in the same league as the air pad. With the air pad you can vary the setting to suit the type of riding you’re doing that day.

Sometimes for sportier riding I prefer it fully inflated but on long runs you only need a small amount of air. The beauty is that it’s dead easy to change whilst riding. It’s a move in the right direction for all those asking about which seat is the most comfortable as what suits one doesn’t suit someone else. Why go for one comfort setting when you can have variable?

My Rallye seat in the picture was raised at the front, levelled out and the cover is totally new. Looks fantastic and best seat Ive ever had.

r1happy, do you know the approximate cost for a Rallye seat with air pad?

I appreciate specs will differ, but more of a ballpark I'm after?

Do they re-use the original covering and if not, how close to original is the new seat finish?
