Possibly Stolen GS Bits

Guaranteed to be from bikermates stolen steed. There are lots of high end bikes being broken up over there. Most of the population havn't got two brass beans to rub together yet there are dozens of items for sale on ebay. I wouldnt touch with a bargepole.:rob:rob

I wasn't about to purchase, just pointing out how obvious the scam is.

Two years ago I was driving on the A41 near Chesham, in a lay-by on the opposite carriage way there were a group loading bikes into a curtain side lorry.

Turned around and went back to said lay-by, phoned police. Explained what I was watching, read two number plates to them.

Police arrived, they were nicked. lorry was full of bikes..

Bastards.

Excellent, very well done.

I had my bike nicked recently by a professional gang despite good security measures, caught it all on CCTV. Having made a lot of enquiries it seems highly likely it was heading towards eastern Europe.

So if you purchase the engine number and update the registration document with the new engine, if it is stolen will this not be flagged?

If nobody purchased the parts there would be no market. So if bmw bikes are a parts target it’s because bmw owners are looking for cheaper parts. Possibly often knowing they are cheap and being sold via a suspect region.

Having said that motorwerks are selling 1200wc engines for less than that so it’s not a cheap option.

If eBay insisted that a photograph of the engine/frame number must be included with the listing that would help.

Looking at the other listings for that ebayer it's a serious operation and the level of bike theft would suggest the same. Could do with a word at a political level along the lines of "we reckon there is large scale criminalty going on and we in the EU are not happy about it and you won't get any more money from us until you sort it".
