First real ride out since it had the restrictor removed ...

Had a little Jaunt around the twisty bits of Lincolnshire today with Andy on his trusty GSA !

Everyone knows the bike is quick but no matter how many times someone tells you or you read it, until you have experienced sitting on a GS and yet being propelled by some demonic and frankly mad missile engine .......

But its the handling i want to praise, the chassis and the very unobtrusive electronics allow this bike to go so fast into, round and out of corners so amazingly I cannot begin to think where its limits are. Certainly beyond my courage thats for sure !

Without me trying too hard, for Andy to keep even in sight on the GSA he has been grinding his centre stand alarmingly and to his credit I have never seen a PR4 front tyre so worn at the very edge !

Lincolnshire = A bit featureless but some bloody brilliant roads !

I was out in Lincolnshire on mine today. Also on the first real ride since having the 9000 rev limit removed at the first service.
I was round Sleaford and Folkingham area in the south of the county.
Do you reckon it smoother in Dynamic mode rather than Road mode. Not sure what Road mode is for, I can still drive it steadily in Dynamic mode.
I agree with all above, I reckon it's truly awesome, I'm so glad I bought it, (It has replaced my GS LC and my Yam MT-07)

TBH I never bother with road mode although the suspension is more "compliant" in road Dynamic is the best IMO (unless its raining in which case i wuss out and use rain )

Dyna pro is a waste of time in reality unless you want to keep our front tyre unworn !

We did the revesby road and on to mablethorpe

Saw an apparition on a black HD that may or may not have been Att going the other way at one point

Alright Rich?
I picked mine up on 1st and have only managed 250 miles so far. No regrets at all with swapping from the GS LC? I sat on the fence for quite a while, deciding on whether to get the XR or an LC and eventually plumped for the XR.
I do find it quite harsh so far suspension wise, I'm hoping that might settle down a touch with more mileage. Like so many others have said, it would have been nice to perhaps have had a soft option on the suspension settings.
Power wise though, OMG, I remember thinking after my test ride on the naked S1000R, back to back with the LC, do I really need this much power? Clearly the answer was No, but it didn't stop me getting the XR anyway. What has "Need" got to do with it?
I was told by the dealer that I shouldn't rev it past 7k rpm and that if I did, the engine management would cut in. Haven't had that happen yet, even though Ive been "trying" to be good. If, as you say, its set at 9k rpm, that might explain why it hasn't cut in yet. :blast
Looking forward to getting my first service done in a couple of weeks. I can't begin to imagine how quick it might go afterwards? Its stupid fast already.

I reckon you did the right thing, I love the GS but I love the XR more. I guess it all depends on what floats your boat.
I think the rev limiter will kick in at 9k not 7k. The book says to keep the revs below 7k for the first 200 miles then below 9k till 600 miles.
A lot of folk talk about the suspension being harsh but that has not been my personal experience, I thought it was better on some bumpy tarmac roads than my GS. The suspension is so-posed to automatically adjust to the road surface unlike the GS which you have to select the mode (or so I believe, I read that somewhere)
I do get the vibrations but they don't bother me at all. I am trying some "grip buddies" from Nippy Normans but I'm not sure about them......I'd have to take them off again to compare it without to be sure if I like them a lot....they are OK.
So I'd guess that you will be off to put some miles in today? ........Me I'm off to Cafe Hockey (Nottingham) to meet other tossers from the East Midland forum for breakfast.
Hmmm Reading to Nottingham and back, that will put another couple hundred miles on for you......see you there?

Would have loved to have been able to join you all, but sadly I was already committed elsewhere. Another time maybe.
Cheers
