A number of peeps have mentioned that there is one, but not actually defined what they mean. Some may not like what is said but a least people will know where they stand.
All events social gatherings that have been organised have been open to everyone to come along to.

I think it is prolific posters that organise ride outs events etc and have met and become friends that are known as the clique, this may be putting people off organising something themselves and worried about the stigma.

Have your say here and lets get this out into the open, clear the air and get down to what makes this the best section on ukgser and improve on it.

Cheers fur postin this jist as I'm gettin ready tae go oot on the lash!! I'll hae plenty tae say but no until the morn.:thumb

FFS Johnny :rob I'll need to hae my say afore I go oot noo :blast

I don't think that there is one. Nor has ther ever been that I'm aware of. It's obvious that there are a hard core of regular posters (of which I'm one) and regular event attenders and characters that are more tae the fore than others. As a result of this some outsiders (for want of a better word) may see the likes o me, Johnny, Gordon, Stumpy and now Robmack as being in a clique but this is purely cos we know each other better due to being in contact more regularly. I would think that this is normal. However I wid also like tae think that I personally have never been unfriendly or unwelcoming to anybody that's turned up to any of the rideouts or events. If I have been it's been unintentional and I apologise. The only time I can think of when I have openly said that someone wasn't welcome was prior to the Clans this year when I had an onboard spat with Ian (Skyenet) and I told him that I hoped that I didn't see him. That said it was a figure of speech and I made it clear on the actual GOTC thread that Ian was indeed welcome to come on the run. I would hope that this spat is also behind me and Skyenet although I haven't actually seen him. We would have teamed up tomorrow at the kids run in Edinburgh but I have had to pull oot. I'm certain that there would have been no anomisity if we had met tomorrow. Other than that I cannot think of any reason why anyone would say that we were clique. Certainly we're the most active section both on the forum and in real life.

It saddens me tae think that anyone (especially if this complaint has come from ane o' oor ane) would accuse me or the SS of being a clique. Ye jist need tae look at the cross section of posters and folk who come to the events (including events held in both Johnny and my own family domains) to see that people are made welcome.

I would hope that people would genuinely be honest here and if there any problem we can get it sorted out toot sweet.

A clique (IPA:/'klɪk/ in America, /'kliːk/ elsewhere) is an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity.[1] A clique as a reference group can be either normative or comparative.

Nothing wrong with a 'clique' as per the wilkopedia description, but I feel you should have posted this in the pub, as it could be misinterpreted as being aimed at a particular group of members.
This is maybe why folk think 'cliquey' when we speak about things which do not have a specific regional content, in the SS section only.

If you are only asking the SS members what we think of being a termed cliqueish, you wont get the response you need to judge anything.

Ive just re-read that to myself. I think some sensible person stole my brain for a minute then sneaked it back in again when I wasnt lookin.

Someone has to organise the rideouts and meetings and its more than likely going to be the more established members who in turn will have course become friends.

I haven't been to any UKGSer events but certainly don't get the impression that new folk aren't going to be made welcome and are going to just sit in the corner and feel excluded from the banter when visiting Scotland.

For whats its worth and for those thinking about attending a meet alone, I for one think it can someimes be the best way. Hogroast 06 and I was quite apprenhensive about going to only my 2nd GS event alone but it was fantastic. Parked up, pitched up and walked over and said hello to Whatton, Steppers and the others. Job done :)

i thought a clique was another word for :ymcabikers and it seems there is loads of them in SS as they have their own twee :ymcatalk

:augie

:aidan

of course i could be wrong...:D
but some prance around like 'kings' and 'queens' and others do 'max mosley's'

My 2p

Some people put more into this whole site than others. It will always be the same whether it is an organised 'club' or a disorganised shambles (not that this site is a disorganised shambles :o ). :nenau

I have heard that there are other cliques on the site as well. Occcasionally I have been accused of being part of at least one of them.

To the people that think there are cliques I say 'get on your bike and start taking part in stuff!' :rob

Once you turn up to something you'll meet people and have FUN

FWIW I think the SS section have been fantastic in organising great events. I wouldn't miss the Skye Partie for the world and really need to get to GOTC soon as well :clap

I am confident that there isn't a Clique on here and that its just peoples perceptions. Sure some people will post more than others and some peoples interests, humours etc are more similar than others too. Its easy to cjip in from the sidelines that others are posting more, organising more and more active but nothing is stopping anyone else from doing the same. I see a similar thing happening with teh SS Mod affair in so far as some people think that the SS Mod has to come from Scotland or reside here at the least. In all reallity Trippy could be the SS Mod and he lives as far from Scotlans as most anyone. The Mod is there to moderate the posts and not to coordinate ride outs, weekends, trips etc.... I'm sure there used to be area Coordinators before that did that sort of thing and it would more to try and avoid clashes rather than to organise things himself....anyway I digress............

There is no clique just a bunch of good friends:thumb

Anyone who disagrees I will report to the Gang of 4:augie

I can only offer my own insights, joining the site a year ago and having been happily posting like a mad hoor since

Personally, I just think the guys in Scotland get on well with each other (some extreme piss taking I grant you) and if my own experience is anything to go by, they're (and I hope I include myself in that) a very welcoming bunch, judging by the number of weekends of good fun I've had in the past year.....

it's only a clique if you don't make the effort to speak up and get involved (that's what makes the Scotland get togethers so good when you see how far people will travel to join in and the numbers of people that make the effort - I know some sections where people can't even travel a few short miles to meet with someone), so if all you want to do is sit and whinge from the sidelines, you can awa an bile yer heid in my book.....:thumb

yes there seems to be a bit of a click but it,s typical of people from rural areas
who indulge in sheep play and the likes , but i think it,s more that the rest of the population knows and understands this, and not so much thinks of it as a clique , but are more likely to abstain from such shenanigans i.e forced drinking session,s fowl language competitions, sheep orgies, kilting, etc, etc, in saying all this, yes it is very hard to get in to the scottish section but there is a way around it, clad your twat suit in sheep skin from head to toe :augie

My sentiments exactly :thumb2

No clique that I've ever seen, just a bunch of folk who get on and have a good laugh
And make others welcome (unless you're a twat of course)
Couldn't be more hospitable I reckon. If you were the wee shy type you may feel left out a bit cause others know each other but all you have to do is get wired in :oonyack

Maybe someone felt that they weren't the centre of attention (that they thought they deserved to be) and in a wee huffy moment thought "bsatards, it's a fekin clique"
Now then, at the GOTC was anyone looking miserable and keeping them selves above the fray? :augie

I don't think the group dynamics of the SS are any different to any group/club/team I have been involved in. There are people in the SS I know very well, some I have met a few times, others I have yet to meet and a few I will probably never meet. Of course I have a better rapport with those I know well. That’s only natural isn’t it. When we have runs and events the "regulars" always make an effort to speak to "newbies" and include them as much as possible.

Becoming part of SS does take a little time. No one should expect to join the site today and be am established "tosser" by tomorrow, it does not work like that. I think you also need the right attitude to be in the SS. Look at the good natured slagging that goes on. You need to be able to give it and take it. If you're too sensitive then the SS and indeed UKGSer may not be the place for you.

We are an equal opportunities section you're welcome here regardless of race, colour, creed, size, sexual orientation and disability. Just don't expect it to go unmentioned.

Anyone can post in the SS, anyone can suggest a run or event, anyone can attend a run or event.

I am a Ronno supporter mainly for his SS work and what has done in organising an annual lash which also raises funds for good causes within the SS ; so he does some bloody good when many will just sit on the side, or whinge or simply the condone these actions as a clique.

Sure, you'll alway get colourful characters, yes .. there's the banter, yes.. some pisstake .. but its part of the fabric of this place (as in forum) and it shows in his humor, cartoons or creative you tube antics which bring a smile. Yes, some peeps are more colourful than others, some will lead while others follow, its just the way life is. Without it will be a dull place.
