Posting photo's from a mac

First off I have searched but found sizing reference only regarding windows OS. I don't particularly want to dust off my pc but if all else fails.....

I used the test forum to post a photo, first attempt failed. I new that the size would be the cause of this. So i selected a document and successfully posted that.

So how do I set about resizing the photos on my mac before selecting them to be attached to the test page.

Or do you suggest an alternative easy way. I read of users using different free programs, is that the way ?

I also have iPad, pc, and windows tablet at home if thats an easier route.

Your help for a total novice in this particular field is welcomed.

Hi

The easiest way is to e-mail yourself the photo, and choose the required size at the point of attachment to the e-mail. If you then save the photo, it will be the required size.

Thanks Bill, will have a go at that method.

After posting my help request I picked up the iPad and managed a 2 photo post in the test forum without any apparent problems.

As people say in this forum posting photos is a bit hit and miss first time round. However when you find a way that works you probably don't look much further.

Open the picture with Preview, then Tools->adjust size and you're sorted.

Open the photo with preview
Click on tools at the top of your page
Click on adjust size
Use the drop down menu "fit into" at the top of the box that pops up. It usually says Custom. Then select either 800x600 or 1024x768. These two sizes usually agree with the size limits on the site.
When this is done,
Click file on the top of the page, Click save.
I usually save the pic to my desk top as its easier to locate.
Hope that helps anyone on a Mac.
PS I'm running ElCapitan, but should be more or less the same for earlier software.

Use the Tapatalk forum app on the iPad. Easy. No messing about with photos. It just works.

Just as a bye note before I close this thread.

I have tried the suggested preview and image resize method and it works just fine. Out of curiosity I did a computer forum search with " image size" and I got plenty hits.
One by the "Bear" covered what I wanted. But it didn't come up when I did my original search with different criteria.

There was a lot of good reading in the articles that came up. In fact if I had of hit on them in the first place this post would not have been put up.
