Hello all,
So after 18k i've finally had a problem with the bike - the potentionmeter / gear indicator has gone so the bike no longer displays neutral (i don't have OBC so no others are indicated even when functioning)
It's this bit in the centre of the shot with the wire cluster leading into it -
This is what it looked like underneath -
So what happened? What are those plastic bits underneath the protruding T section shaft? Why was i now facing £120 bill for a new sensor? (Part No. 23 007 7 11 960 - special order only)
Well inside the sensor was this bit -
It turns out the silver ring at the top has a sharp edge that was catching on the inside and slowly shredding the surrounding housing. The shrapnel from this then damages the brushes (just visible at about the five o'clock mark)
So new sensor in (with a blob of araldite where the ends of the ring meet) and still no neutral. All connections ok.
So any ideas on a fix? And will having no neutral indicator fail the MoT?
Best,
S
