Hi Chaps,

Heading to the Picos next week (impromptu trip), never been before and looking to stay in Potes itself but struggling to find a hotel with on site parking. Not keen on leaving it in the street.

Any suggestions from you wise bunch?

Cheers

Hotel Valdecoro, on your left as you enter from the east, has parking down behind the hotel and off the road. Some of it is under shelter. A very nice hotel too.

Struggling to find a hotel with off-street parking, as they are fully booked?

Struggling to find one, in general?

There are lots of suggestions for Potes hotels in this accommodation section. There are no parallel reports of Tossers’ bikes being pinched.

Here’s one, plucked at random from a search of the word ‘Potes’:

Post in thread 'Doc wants to add Spain to his Doc does trip reports'
https://www.ukgser.com/community/th...his-doc-does-trip-reports.418041/post-5712406

It’s a bit outside the town (which might or might not add to mental comfort) and the fellow liked it.

If you are also looking around Potes: last year we did stay at La Casona De Baró.
It's just outside Potes. Less than 10 minutes ride into Potes for dinner. We walked back from Potes to the hotel on the second night (we had drinks). 45 minutes nice walk and I flipped out in the complete darkness with someone walking behind us at some distance :D

The place is very comfy, they do have parking (open air) at the back of the Hotel/house.

Cheers chaps, booked the Valdecoro as they had availability for the 4 nights I am wanting.

Plan is to spend 4 days around the picos, and then head over the Pyrenees towards Perpignan and then up through France towards the channel.

Bugger all planned yet so will look through old threads and get to work! Cheers again for the suggestions 👍

1 more for Valdecoro .....
Good Hotel
Bikes parked out of way down behind...
Even got a roof ...

And another for Hotel Valdecoro - stayed there a couple of years ago & very handy for walking in/out of town. It was good value too.

£300 notes for four nights including breakfast, cannot grumble.
I wouldn`t worry about the bike, you will not be in the UK....I leave my helmet, gloves and the keys in the ignition here in the small towns in Portugal, it is a high trust society, I did the same when travelling in the small towns in Spain and France, as I would do now and do so in Spain.

There is trust in this World and it is so liberating....Enjoy!

Fair one - it is a shame that when you are booking a trip away on the bike at least 25% of the planning (at least for me) involves 'will my bike be secure' just based on living in England and knowing that any scrote will have it away with minimal consequences at any given opportunity.

I totally get that and it took a fair while for me to realise that I am living in a high trust society.
We only know what we know, so we take necessary precautions, because it is what we know, how we have been programmed.

I would take precautions in any city all over the World, as humanity is diluted, but in the small towns and villages, humanity is still as it was and should be, honest, gentle, kind and generous and theft is to bring shame upon the entire family....It is how it works here.

Just being away from the UK is an eternal holiday, so relaxation is assured.

If I was ever to return to the UK, I would be stripped bare of all I have in minutes! I am now on the total trust scale and it brings freedoms.

Just enjoy, as I am sure you shall.

I've also stayed in a hotel on the corner in Pores and parked on the pavement with no concerns. The place is wall to wall bikes!

We did have a bike nicked and n nearby Riano though ….in 1996
From the market square overnight on a Saturday night

We stayed at Hotel infantado in Potes and parked in their car park at the front . I don’t think there are too many issues out there with scum so you should be ok

Valdecoro hotel is good and with good motorbike parking down the ramp at the back. For me the only thing that let it down was the breakfast.
