just been browsing through some "mods" and saw the Power Chip.
is anyone running one of these and if so any good ?
any noticeable difference ?
cheers :thumb2

If you mean the BBPower chip then yes, there's a significant difference. Well worth it IMO - I've got one on my current bike and had one on the previous 1150 too.

I had a BBchip a few years ago on an 1100. Made a slight improvement in performance but took the tank range down from 200 to 160.

Keep the bike standard and just ride it :thumb2

a few years ago, i had an 1150 with full remus, K&N, and BB power chip. i thought it went pretty well.

took it all off when i had to take the bike to the dealer to trade it in, and was dreading the dull 30 mile ride on the stock machine. shouldn't have, it seemed to go just as well, but was a whole lot more civilised :blast

i missed the ohlins though ;)

I bought my 1100 with a remus pipe and bbchip.

Love the sound off the pipe but I'm thinking of removing it. The bike feels very snatchy in high gears - reminds me of the 990 Adventure I test rode a while ago. I can see slow speed manoeuvring being quite difficult.

So I'm wondering - by removing the chip will I need the bike reprogrammed or anything like that? I'm sure it's not just a matter of removing the chip?

Also if I leave the chip in my insurance company might require that the bikes power is tested.

i declared my mods to my insurance co. they didn't make any changes to the premium, they probably knew how little difference it made :D

It's not just a case of removing the chip - you have to re-fit the standard one. That is 'reprogramming the bike' as you put it.

But if you're using the correct map for the bike's spec it shouldn't be snatchy - you do know that BBPower chips have several maps? On the 1150 they're selected using the CCP socket, not sure about the 1100 ones though.

With the correct map the bike should be like standard but with a bit more go - no changes in characteristics. If it's not running right it's probably something other than the chip causing it.
