I'm looking for your opinions as to what way I should go, Power commander or remap on my 1190R. I know some of you have done the remap and was wondering how much of a difference it has made.

I have removed the SRS valves and have removed the cat from the exhaust. Currently running an Akro end can.

She runs a lot cooler now but I'm guessing possible too lean. Not looking for more power but looking for economy and reliability.

Thanks in advance

Remap every time, as this will give you more than just fuelling upgrade.

I had my bike remapped at Geoff's too. De-cat, wings exhaust and re-map. Like you, I mostly did it so it wouldn't run too lean. If you're planning on keeping the bike for a while then a remap does away with wires and hardware under the seat that's cramped enough as it is. (I have room for a small compressor and a stop 'n go kit)
I guess the benefit of a power commander is that you can always take it off the bike and flog it if you're unlikely to keep the bike for a few years?

I'm very happy with the remap ... :thumb2

Heaven forbid .... !

Thanks for all your input.

I have no intention of getting rid for a couple of years at least, UK - Bangkok next year and god only knows the year after. So a remap it is, could one of you tell me how much I should expect to be paying?

"The engineer" should I be worried ????

About £350 from Geoff ....

No, you need not be worried about Geoff's remapping work. Turgid, never ending discussions about this, yes.

Have you read this thread SPG? My experience of a Hilltop remap LINKY

Thanks for that Andres very interesting. It also reminded me that I have a uni-filter fitted as well.

I'll be on the phone to Geoff tomorrow and have a run up the road, by sounds of it a quicker run back!!

Don't expect miracles when your using a unifilter. Every dyno run I have seen with them fitted is well down on power. They may be better at filtering (although some say no) but they are very restrictive by the looks of things, especially if your using the filters in the snorkel as well. I would say there is no danger your running lean with one of them in. There is a video by an American who very nearly went on a rant about how ktm had miss advertised the power because his was well shy. His dyno guy changed the filter to pod filters and got a load back. He was also running a tkc80 on the dyno as well which definitely wouldn't have helped with the readings.
