Power Commander Question.

I've just gone and purchased one of those new power commanders for the 1200 and fitted it tonight. Had one on the VFR and it made a big difference.

The question I have is do you need to remove the O2 sensors or can the be left in place?

Left in place surely, but it's only a gut reaction.

I take it nothing is mentioned in the PC literature? If seems more likely they should be left.

Are you going to have a custom map made?

The instructions say to disconnect them but this then means i have to tie up cables etc.

IO will try and get a custom map done sometime. YPE Edinburgh will be getting a shout shortly..

YPE quoted me £170 a wee while ago, to make a custom map.

However, if you're getting one done anyway...... You have got a full Remus system with a Revolution can with the baffle in, haven't you....?

I just got me new Power Commander tonight. The instructions do say to disconnect the O2 sensors. I was considering removing them and filling the holes. You can usually find a Renault or Peugeot sump plug to fit.

The remus headers come with a blank plug for the lambda sensors....can't you just refit those?

Oh I didn't know that. I got mine second hand and there weren't any blanking plugs with it.

Can you just unplug the lambda sensors for the electrical system ? Does that cause any problems with the engine managment system ? I assume you would get some kind for error message on the display. Would be interested to know how easy the Power Commander is to set up.

Given that you are sticking a Power Commander into a closed-loop control system I think the missing Lambda sensors is going to be the least of your problems.

Well I went out a run with it on Sunday. I was very much pleased with the result on a std bike. The bike is a lot smoother on and off the throttle. It seems as if there is a lot more mid range power too.

I think it was well worth the investment.
