I have a 2002 52 reg r1150gs with abs and servo brakes, the lights are hard wired,
having just bought tomtom rider gps I need to connect to a switched 12v supply to power the unit on long trips.
where do I tap into a suitable supply. I dont really want to connect straight to the battery or use the accessory socket.
thanks

best place i found is the heated grip live , u have to use a scotchlok -<spit>- connector but its on a low priority circuit so if it does corrode through u can still carry on, but is switched and also its fused separately , so if u blow it due to shorts again u just loose the heated grips

canna remember exactly what wire it is , but can find out if u need to know , its in the main jumble of connectors on top of the front shock , under the tank .. thingy :)

done it, took live feed from central connector on top of engine (tank removed) live feed for heated grips 3amp fuse, switched live, lovely.earth for tomtom to ground , job done.
