Opened my new zumo660 yesterday and am a little confused about the power lead, there are obviously the red and black power leads to battery, mic. in and speaker out and then a funny looking thing with a sort of plastic clip on it, any ideas what this is for please? Also it didn't come with a user manual, it did have a quick start manual but nothing more than a few pages, is this normal? I want to learn how to use all of it's functions and cant or is it just trial and error?

Pretty sure the other lead is for an external GPS aerial, but it's been a long time since I fitted mine and taped up what I don't use.

Full manual is on the Garmin web site (again IIRC) as a PDF.Iif you can't find it, drop me an email to markie underscore wales at hotmail dot com and I'll send my copy over.

cheers

Not sure about connecting an external GPS antenna, there's a MCX socket on the left side of the 660, under the rubber flap, for this.

The socket the OP is referring to is a mini USB socket for attaching accessories such as a traffic receiver. I have a GTM12 connected to mine. I had it kicking about in a drawer after some one here posted a link to an eBay auction selling them for £11. Only useful for info purposes on a bike really as you can usually ride around any traffic. Buy hey, it's another farkle :D

Good call - I'd have to agree as thinking this through, on a bike you hardly need an external aerial - I stand corrected! As I said, it's been ~3 years since I fitted mine (F1 excuse time!!)
