A few people have been in touch to ask whether I still make Power Ports.

I've just made a new batch up and posted them out to those on the list :thumb2. I still have stock if anyone else is interested.

THE PROBLEM ......

More and more electrical gadgets in the tank bag need powering or re-charging; iPods, ‘phones, bike to bike comms, cameras the list goes on.

I looked at Powerlet stuff – it’s quite nice but very expensive and involves hacking a pretty large hole into your tankbag to pass the socket through, and it isn’t water-proof afterwards. They recommend squirting silicone sealant into the hole but the sockets aren’t waterproof anyway

I wanted a neat way of passing a cable into my bag that didn’t involve squirting silicone sealant around , had proper waterproof connectors and could be quickly un-plugged and cost less than £60:00.

THE SOLUTION .....

Designed and manufactured by a Tosser for Tossers, I give you .... The PowerPort

There is a silicone gland which is a tight fit over the outer sheath of a short length of twin core cable.

The gland is clamped and squeezed between two aluminium discs, this is the outer one.

The two discs “clamp” either side of the tank bag. The silicone gland expands into the hole in the tank bag through which the cable passes and the neoprene foam gaskets compress to form an additional seal.

Fitting is simple and takes about half an hour.

The two two halves of the unit screw together using the supplied stainless steel pozi drive machine screws.

This is what you get

This is also a great way to get power into your panniers and not have a leak

That looks real neat but can I just check something, do you just end up with the red/black wires on the inside of your tankbag. You'd still need to attach whatever adapters you'd need to these.

No, in the kit you get the two part connector to go on the end of the red & black wires and also the pre-wired 12v "cigarette" socket.

Basically, it's everything you see here.

Thanks Popeye, much appreciated. Can you advise if the plug is a standard cigarette lighter size or the BMW smaller version ? I have one of the BMW versions on the dash so ideally it'd be the BMW version.

I bought one of these from Popeye last year and fitted it (via a Centech fuse panel) to my top box.

Superb bit of kit. :thumb

Recieved one of these kits last week and fitted it today to my bmw tankbag.

Took 20 mins or so with care!!! This is a great solution and a very well made addition to the tankbag......other ways of doing this worked out at £50 plus , so its also , in my opinion....good value too.

Well done Popeye......excellent product and thanks again :thumb

Big thanks to all those who have bought these :thumb2

I've put a WEBSITE together with on line payment via PayPal.

I couldn't find a way of setting up a discount button for Tossers so anyone off here gets free delivery. The prices on the website are the same as on here. Just let me know your forum name at the checkout :thumb2

Got mine a couple of days ago and fitted it to my Bags-Connection bag in 20-30 minutes, way cheaper than their options for getting electrics to their bags. :clap

Powerport

Got my kit this week :D

Looks a solid well designed piece of kit, obviously thought through the problem and delivered a practical value for money solution

Will be fitting this weekend

Well done & thank you Popeye :thumb

Certainly should do - I use mine to charge an iPod and a Nokia phone.

Order one off the site but don't add the postage on and I'll include it when I ship your kit out tomorrow.

If it doesn't return the usb plug and I'll refund the cost of it back to your paypal a/c :thumb2
