appreciate the help -don't want to sign up to more forums.

got a zumo 660 with all the bits missing, bying items on ebay.
got a car cradle now.
what is the mini usb at the back of the cradle for?
why won't a power cable charge/power with the door open, but not from the concealed port on the car cradle?
is there an oem adapter available, plugging the power cable's male 5pin mini usb into a mini usb female, which in turn can be connected to the slot on the cradle side?
throwing away the cigar/mini usb seems a bit of a waste.
much obliged
Josey

any ideas?
the garmin help-folk are also a bit slow with a reply.

You will find that the mini USB port on the car cradle is not for powering but maybe for external traffic or mic or something. You need to use the car adaptor with the larger plug into the righthand side of the housing for power.

external GPS aerial

sorry don't understand the question

shouldn't be needed - the cigar lighter should go to a bigger than mini usb sized plugs that goes into the car cradle.

cheers

PS sorry for "terse" reply - I've broken collar bone and typing is tricky!

thanking youse for the reply, hope the broken bones will knit together soon.

[the car mini usb cable, charges the unit out of the cradle, with the battery hatch open, plugged into the zumo mini usb port.]
unless I can convert the mini usb plug, using an oem adaptor, have to buy a new power cable.

very best regards

sorry to :monkeypiz on yer new buy ... here it comes ... but ...

Did it come in a zumo box ? .. have you tried registered it with Garmin or check the code with them ? , did the nice ebay seller do it for you :augie
as I and others have mentioned before it comes with an ebay warning, if too many key parts are missing and the paper slip with a code number on it .. walk away as buying the missing accessories will mask the bargain it was and it may still belong to another :( .

ah well

no I registered the zumo OK, and the seller didn't de-register it.
the communication with the seller was a bit slow, more could have been done, regarding what exactly was missing from a set.
pity that bits were missing, but I got them all OK.
the crux here is this, lets say Germans (maybe others) don't wan't to send into the 'EU'
I'm also alergic to rip off postage.
the whole thing could have worked out better, ah well.
regards
Josey
