PPF = insurance cancellation ?

:nenau
A car's a car and PPF is PPF - regardless where the stuff's applied.
You're not selling it to me :D
LOL

It's not something you will ever do - is there not a thread you can get involved in on a subject you have the first clue about :dabone

There are a couple of methods and one involves trimming, but pre-cut is more common with quality installers. Bu PPF is PPF is incorrect. So many different brands, each with different characteristics.

Nightmares galore online, but done right, if you want it, it's fine and does the job it is supposed to do.

Effectively yes. Most modern films self heal - direct heat, or sunlight will see any marks disappear.
So protects against minor scratches, ok, but personally I'd not bother, I'd just get the 'chips away' guy to touch up any scratches or 'dings' if they were big enough to detract significantly from the looks - who cares about minor scratches on an 'adventure' bike anyway?

Hey, Miss Sensitive & Touchy, eh? LOL
That says more to me about your post than any useful content; but, carry on.

As you say, the OP asked for "...real world feedback". Your words, not mine. I'm telling it like I've heard, in the "real world" and it's not for me. Comprendez vous? LOL

Sorry to piss on your chips if you're in the PPF business. Just watch where you cut the film and don't dig-in and scratch the paintwork. :D

My posts were as much tongue in cheek as yours were completely wrong and no offence, so not sure why you've gone on one.

Not in the PPF business but know what I'm talking about.

Weirdo.

Maybe if the paint applied was like used to be in ‘olden’ days then we wouldn’t need PPF

Can’t use lead paint though 🙈

A PPF’d vehicle is worth more than a unPPF’d vehicle.
On the bike I have clear PPF which was cleared by insurance before it was applied, however I was told that if the bike is wrapped in a different color they would not insure the bike. Reason? More attractive to theft. I never came across a car which was fully covered in PPF. Bonet & wings yes.

So many variables when it comes to PPF and installers, I’ve got a new car being done by the only recognised installers TOPAZ, it’s full car coverage so I’ll know shortly how difficult it is to insure, as the PPF was £5k i want it covered, never had problems before with other cars and in the same way with my van I pay a higher policy because I declare it’s printed down the sides what I do.

I had the full PPF on my Ducati Streetfighter I told the insurance company they said OH OK

That was that

On a Matt coloured bike it really is essential to aid its value, it’s also not expensive so money well spent.
I had some put on my 2020 1250GS TE Exclusive after the matt side panels started to show scuff marks in under 1000 miles. The dealer changed 1 of the panels under warranty and Tony James Design put the PPF on for me. 3 years later when I traded it in the panels still looked unmarked. Well worth it IMO.

In the guitar world, dings and scratches are no problem, it shows that the guitar has been used 'as it was supposed to be used' - so much so, that you can even buy new relic 'ed guitars (at a very hefty premium) that have been prematurely bashed around, if you can't wait for your own instrument to be 'worn in'.

In the Rufty-tufty Adventure bike World, it seems you have to protect your machine against even the tiniest scratch - there is 'nowt as queer as folk'

NOT in my world - I'm still weeping at the ONLY ding in my Martin D28 and I did that nearly 50 years ago....:D

As for those relic/distressed things.....WTF ????......One of them would finish me off.....:blast

BUT - Our car is a right mess and neither of us could care less - :beerjug:

you must weep when seeing what Tommy Emmanuel does to his guitars

When you fill the insurance form online it doesn't ask about PPF, so I wouldn't declare it,
I don't see it as something that needs adding under "Modifications" either.

I've got stickers on my top box.... I never said a word about it :D

Perhaps you should PPF your guitar? Hmmmm....... maybe a business opportunity here or would it 'suck out' too much tone?

I wonder how many people put screen savers on there iPhone/android or the tft screen on there bike ? Does the same as ppf.
Screen saver does a little more, in that a damaged screen will make the phone unusable - a scratched bike panel or pannier doesn't render the bike unusable, unless one is seriously neurotic.
