PR4 OR CONTI For My Gs Lc What do you reckon ????

Sick of my anakee 3 now 4000 miles and shot .

Whats the recommendation pr4 or conti trail attack i don't go of road .



Or any other suggestions welcome.
 
PR4 if planning to run in poor /wet weather, I have used on my ex R1150r they are superb. I am currently running Conti on my R1200GS with no issues & lots of feedback / grip though so also good but mostly just in the dry. I believe PR4 would be better in the wet? Check other posts as there are special fitments for the PR4 - its not straightforward - you need a fitter who understands which match goes on the GSLC. hope this helps
 
I'm thinking about either of these, so will keep an eye on this. I'm inclined to try the Contis, don't know why though!

Ive had conti on my last 1190 adv r they were very good and lasted 7000 miles i don't hang around.But my only niggle all the ktm's I've rode wagged like feck above 110 was it the tyres????? I've had two and the demo did it.

The pr4 doesn't quite look right on a gs to me,but i like the sound of the grip as i like to push on in the rain.
 
If you don't go off road why go for the Conti the PR4 is a great tyre in the wet and dry, the conti is also good and hard wearing, but my two sets have both had a weave from the front end when you get a wiggle on
 
I can't wait to wear the Anakees out so I can get back to my beloved Battlewings/Trailwings - A tyre I have never had so much as "a moment" with on GS's.
 
Whatever the weather (and I've never tried PR4's), Conti's are great all-rounders.
 
I'm very pleased with my PR4's on a TC ADV - the give a lot of confidence

The only downside IMO is a vanity one as they don't look very gnarly

Luckily vanity is not to high on my criteria ( see yellow top box for proof of that)
 
I had Trail Attack 2's on my bike and it handled very nicely with neutral steering, but wet weather grip wasn't too good.

They were replaced with the PR4 Trail which gripped well, but under steered in comparison when accelerating hard out of corners. They definitely needed a little bit of countersteering to keep the bike on line. The rear lasted about 4000 miles, but I had to be very gentle for the last 500 to get home from Germany.

I replaced it with a Pilot Road 4 Tour which has a deeper centre tread and also harder rubber in the centre, so it should last longer. It's looks to be lasting better too after 2k miles, including 1200 miles of abrasive Scottish Tarmac :thumb2 It seems to hold a line better too; either that or I've got used to the under steering
 
PR4's for me. I put the GT on the rear as I do a lot of fully loaded two up riding.
Wet weather grip is outstanding, dry grip, you will be grinding your bike away before they let go, wear seems to be the same as any other tyre I have tried.
 
See which you can get for the best price. Nowadays there is not a bad tyre that you can fit to a GS, just preference to brand or specific tyre. PR4's on my GSA which I got for £158 a pair from Oponeo. Cheaper that the Anakee's I had on as OE fitment.

Also to consider is tyre life against cost if you are so inclined. The PR4 does last quite a while longer that other tyre profiles or brands. Heidenhau I think has the longest tyre life but is reported to be a bit of a bastard to fit and remove due to the stiff side wall. I have mentioned PR4 a few times but don't think I do not rate the Conti. Never had one fitted but other members on here rate them very high and some even get 6000mls + out of a set.
 
On the Pirelli website they only recommend Scorpion Trail 2 for the GS range. Other makes show a range of tyres suitable for the bike.

I usually check with the manufacturers since I had my blackbird as Bridgestone made a specific BT 020 tyre for it due to performance and weight. If the PR4 is suitable for the GS I would have thought it would be on the website.
