PR4 OR CONTI For My Gs Lc What do you reckon ????

In the dry I dont think anyone will be able to tell the difference between most any tyre on the GS.

In the wet there will be a difference- Tourance EXP and Next and Annakees not as good as PR4s. Ran EXP and Next at Trackdays and they do just fine.

Off Road ( would really like to know who actually takes these offroad ( 5% max?? ) there are many tyres better than the dual sport sort of tyre.

Horses for courses- just be honest in the use and take vanity out of it.

TC V WC, PRESSURES AND ESA

Any thoughts or advice please I'm not sure if this is a tyre issue but I'm hoping so.

2012 GSA, Annakees fitted from new, really liked them but couldnt get BMW dealer to supply replacements after 7kmiles.
choice I had was Metzler only so I went for the Tourance Next and had 2 sets over the remaining period of ownership, no issues but not as good as the Annakees IMHO, unladen I always ran tyre pressures at 2.2F and 2.5R BAR and had ESA on comfort. Loved this bike.

WC GSA .The Annakees are now fecked after 5k miles and I cant say I have liked them at all, I'm not sure if its just me getting used to the new bike (which recommends you runs the pressures regardless of load at 2.5F and 2.9R BAR) but I find it bounces about a bit much with the ESA on soft and so always now have it on normal, it seems to be much more upset by poor road surfaces than the old bike, in this respect the ride feels hard and unforgiving. Overall I'm happy with the new bike, love the quick shifter.

Lots of good reports on MICHELIN PILOT ROAD 4 , can I just check the version people are using as there are 3, STANDARD, TRAIL or GT.
I never intend to go off road,
Thanks

Trail , I think it may be purely down to a heavier bike hence the trail label. Some people put a trail on the front and a GT (I think!) on the back as I assume they get more miles this way. The Michelin website says to use trail front and back.

Thanks for that

I have been told that the trail is is called trail because it is available in 19 front 17 rear
And other than that no difference

Fuck it, I'm going to stick with the Anakees!:blast:D

There is a very clear difference in the softness of the centre of tread compound on the trail version

So, does EVERYONE with the Trail Attacks on the LC experience weaving/ issues at higher speeds over 100mph?

Yep. They should come with an uprated steering dampener :D! Pushing it in the lakes last week, the bike was all over the place. Really was a handful under duress but it was not that much better on the Anakee's

No problems with mine and I'm quite a hard rider at times. They steered better than the PR4's, but the wet weather grip wasn't particularly confidence inspiring (not that I ride in the rain much :P )

I used the Metzler Tourance (not the EXP version) on my GSA Hexhead and loved them. I was told they were 80/20 and I used them only on road. Then when Pirelli got brought by the Chinese I was told by my tyre tech that production had been outsourced to China and he was no longer recommending them?? I switched to Conti Attack Trail 2 and they were very good. Thing is, I got 12,000, yes 12k miles from the Metzler.
I switched to a GSA LC 3 weeks ago and it came with Anakee 3's. From what I read here they won't last long! What is everyone's view of the best long lasting 80/20 GSA LC tyre with good wet / dry etc?

For grip, wet or dry, the PR4 Trails I have been using lately on my GSA are brilliant. Not good at all though is how easily I have picked up a puncture in the rear, even on new tyres. Now fed up and looking to change - just not sure what to use! Tyre choice for this bike seems quite restricted at present.

ya like a bunch of old women......moan moan moan....... its nothing to do with the tyres...if ya can ride a bike then you will be set up for the corners and a good rider will get round with elastic bands on the wheel rim..... doesnt matter whether ya got mich, pirelli, avon , metzlers or what the feck..... if ya can ride ya just get on with it.... who buys a gsa to do 0 to 400 mph in .004 seconds.... if thats what ya want get a suzuki xz1vs8.4 sr6 or whatever......
Have to say i remember my pal Micky who is on here leaving an R1 for dead around the Nurburgring and he was on a 1150 gsa.......i rest my case.....

That's where Michael Dunlop went wrong this year - should have had an 1150 :blast

Common sense prevails. I agree with you 100% :thumb2

I've got 8500 all weather miles on my AIII and still think I'm good for another 1500. I ride a mixture of road and loose trail and I can't fault the tyres one bit. Would I buy them again? Oh yes!!!

BB :comfort

I had to get a new front tyre at the weekend (first time that's happened for a few years, as I normally sell the bike long before it needs a front tyre :P), and in the end went with another Anakee 3, as it's a good tyre when it has some tread on it. :thumb

Just changed the first rear tyre at 9,500 miles & exactly 2 years old, Conti original figment, replaced with another Conti, the front is about half worn but may change it next week.
Can't comment on other tyres but the Conti certainly grips, although possibly maybe slightly hard compound in the centre which generally makes for not so good in the wet, although I've ridden through 2 winters & didn't feel unsafe.
