Pre Christmas (Biff's comeback) Bunkhouse Bash

Seeing as we are now meeting Mark, at Mcy D's at 10am is it worth shifting meeting up with Phil and Nick to 11am. Rather than a TT, isn't there a layby diner (junction off R-about, with portacabin stylee diner) on the R-about of the A4067/4068 too Brynamman? At least it will be warm and friendley in there :nenau
Weather looking good, bring yer sunnies :Motomartin

QuickNick now meeting us at LLandiello at 1200-1215, town centre, he mentioned sleep and working a night shift :nenau
I never knew people worked on Friday nights, only pubs curry house people :D

Snow, just a little cold water it is. Not to worry all the main roads will be clear, and if it does get a bit eerrrrr! SNOWY :nenau will not venture of the main trunk roads :augie Just watch the lead man PW, if he goes down use him as traction or a cushion, he won't mind. :D
There will be no pressure on anyone, we will all come to a decsion on the conditions. The last time I ventured up to mid Wales in the snow was January this year, and we followed the lead rider up this road :blast:blast :D (ignore the dates the camera tripped out :nenau

My Garden, but I am still on for Sat, if I can see the road and the wifey does't moan too much. :D
Roads should be clear by the morning and the sun will be shinning!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody having doubts:D
Yes i am..... The old git has just phoned me and is filing me with horror stories of the m4 being closed due to an accident caused by either the snow r what i dont know but when i tried to look up m4 closure i didnt get any mention of anything. PW and Biff have my numbers so if its cancelled or there is any news then a phone call would be good. If not Im leaving directly after my night shift (6 AM!!!) and will ride till i see snow, then decide how severe it is, and as im no hero if its too bad then ill bugger off back home.....

Well the snow is going no where at the moment so will probably still be here first thing in the morning.

As you can see from Allan's photo even higher ground in South Wales (Not that Allan's patio is that high) :D has about 5-6 inches of covering.

Other places only have an inch or 2.

No more heavy snow forecast, just possible snow showers so it should start to clear mid morning if temperatures rise during the day. Current forecast is about 2 deg C for Saturday.

I have decided to give it a miss lads, theres a pile of logs here that need burning, that venue looks a good one :thumb2 perhaps a spring frostbite meet?

Nice and solid up here at the moment, I reckon if I can get out of my road and up onto the bus route, 400 mtrs I should be okay. I will take a walk once Mel has got out of her pit and can take charge of Jack! Up since 5am looking and waiting :bounce1

Conditions looking bad this morning.

Spoken to Allan and he's got frozen roads around his area.

Nick has provisionally cancelled, Stuart cancelled last night.

I've called, left a voice message and text for Mark to turn back, I've also texted Phil but no response yet (Get out of bed you lazy bugger):D

It's also just started snowing very lightly here.

Probably best to cancel at the moment.

What do you think?

I've been told I'm not allowed to think :augie More Snow due in Brecon this arvo, so the rideout will be a non-starter, the Castle Inn is V-close to Brecon as the crow flies. I reckon we will have to leave it and fight another day.
I hope Mark gets your message in time, if not we can re-think the conditions later and give it a go. The M4 should be good and so should the A40 to Monmouth/Aberg, so its just the A479 to Talgarth to worry about :thumb2
I was so looking forward to this, still a glimmer of hope though :D

irony , Oh the irony!!!

Well I made it to junction 32 after leaving at 0600 after my night shift. and I have to tell you it was BLOODY COLD on the M4 and also remarkably free of snow (thank you gritters everywhere!!!)eventually arriving at Mcdonalds at J32. at about 8 o clock!! How ironic then to find the worst ice I'd seen on my journey was in Mcdonalds car park. I stopped the bike, put it on its side stand and then realised as i tried to get off it that i couldnt as it was sheet ice, and no proper grip on my bike boots. Eventually i stuck it on the sidestand stood on the pegs and then jumped off. Asked the snotty cow of a manager if they considered gritting the car park to which she replied "Oh no grits expensive you know, at which point i lost it and told her it was a fcuking sight less expensive than if i sue her stupid arse for compensation if i fall and damage myself or the bike cos she cant be arsed to grit the car park.
However all was not doom and gloom as I met PW Cymru and said hello (hello Paul thanks for the coffee mate!! my turn on the 29th I think).

Return journey basically a doddle as it had warmed up a few degrees and was now hovering at 2.5C on my display. Glad to say wearing an ex plod HIVIZ worked wonders in getting people to move out of my way (Plus allowing people to see me which was it's primary purpose, plus its a work coat!)and the only drama on the whole 2 hour trip back home was it starting to snow and filling the screen with snow right up to the top and then when it had nowhere to go it filled my visor instead, soon sorted by a flick of the wrist and on my way again.

Look forward to meeting you all on the 29th of December for the next do/run out.

Sorry it didn't happen Mark, I was chomping at the bit, but Wifey was chewing my right ear off as my devil my chewing my left. The fact that I couldn't get ou of my street due to compacted snow turning to ice, won in the end though :augie
Well done for coming down mind, see you on the Snow run :thumb2

Yes, good on you Mark for making the journey. I have to take my hat off to you:bow as to be totally honest I didn't think you would come in those conditions, especially after a night shift ( Do you work in a morgue? you must have had a quiet night!).
Let's hope the weather is better and we all get to meet you on the 29 Dec.
