Hi,
I am about to order one of those:

http://www.burnsmoto.com/bmw-fuel-pump-bypass-cable.shtml

However, in the installation instruction they say:

We recommend connecting the accessory port directly to the battery and that it is fused. The stock accessory port has a 5 amp limit and the fuel pump can trip the canbus virtual fuse with it's greater than 5 amp draw. To install the cable you need to carry a T-20 Torx socket in your tool kit.

I can of course connect the accessory port directly to the battery and I also see the point with having a fuse installed. Here comes my question:

What would be the correct rating for that fuse? Obviously 5 Amps is not enough to run the fuel pump, but what is enough?

Any other suggestions for electrical connection (f. eks. without using the accessory port) are also appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Joerg

Nice find.

Might get one of these before my next tour. Personally, I'll connect an Optimate plug, so I can plug straight into my hardwired optimate loom and bypass the accessory socket.
