Pre snow run!

Thought we'd get some practice in before Sunday!

'Praise be' to the Welsh Highways Agency, we literally had to grit about 100m of this road. Thankfully the grit containers on the bends were full . Further up this section was literally winding down the side of the hill, two severe bends covered in snow and pine needles. We took a look down the road and decided to dismount in an attempt to keep our underpants clean, it was difficult to walk down let alone ride. After about 40 minutes Mark was sweating like a steaming turd and I'd lost a stone running up and down the hill with handfuls of grit. On reflection we should have taken our lids off but Mark had just had his hair permed and I'd straightened mine before I came out

Good phots and story, thanks. Makes me wanna go ride right now. I expect that descent was hairy even after gritting. First gear all the way down I take it ???

Yeah, first gear and for me no ABS until I got to the bottom. I must admit we had visions of being stuck up there all night. We couldn't turn back, thankfully the grit was there, otherwise we'd still be up there now!

Seriously though, riding this time of the year and and in this type of environment you need to be prepared.......we weren't!

We should have had stuff like a survival blanket, food and drink, extra clothing etc. The weather just closed in real quick, one minute fine the next a blizzard and a covering of snow to make conditions extremely dangerous!

Thankfully we got back home in one piece and no damage to the bikes.

Challenging and good fun though!
