I've got the subframe/gearbox hard parts fitted to my 850gs and I'm finding that although I have most of the preload adjustment the last little bit i can't reach as the adjuster knob screws down and interferes with the hard part. There are notches cut out of the hard part presumably to stop this, but in my opinion they're not big enough to allow for full preload range. 2up with luggage and I would do with a few more turns than I can currently get (I get about 70mm of sag when it's as far as I can get it)

Any experience of solving this? I can't spin the adjuster on its mounting bolt as there's a keyed notch that fixes its location.

Not sure if it will help but try searching for topping up the preload adjuster, I used Citroen LHM fluid for mine, it gives you back the adjustment.

I used a spacer made from plastic so that I could get the range of adjustment on my 1100GS. Have you thought about unbolting the preload adjuster, adding the extra turns and then seeing if you can bolt it back on?
