Dear Forum

I'm looking to enter 3 H&H and 3 LDT's over the summer. Now, not having done these before, does anyone have some useful advice on how one should best prepare for them (obviously the bike should be tip top & I'm relatively fit so will have those covered).

Ta muchly :D

I do the three hour H&H with my sons. Main advice is to pace yourself in the first hour. Lots of loons go flat out and are knackered by mid point which is when you crash and hurt yourself. It's very difficult to hold yourself back when you know you could go faster and the red mist descends. However, it will pay off in the last hour if you still have energy when others are failing.
Make sure you take on enough carbs before hand and during. A sport drink will help (NOT an "energy" drink like Red Bull/Monster crap) and fruit like bananas or snack bars.

Which events are you planning to do? I might join you?

Thanks for the tips; a couple of other guys I know have also mentioned 'pacing oneself', and it makes perfect sense.

The ones I'm looking to do are at Desert Rose Racing circuit in Sussex, and I'll be going into the beginners class for the time being, until I'm told otherwise:-
