Aye and add Hamesucken - basically the right to wallop someone that breaks into your house, something our 'Glish chums sadly lack.

Are you sure? I always thought that Hamesucken was assaulting someone in their own home

When I last answered exam questions on this crime (along time ago in a galaxy far away) Hamesucken was breaking into someones home and assaulting the occupier. The defining criteria was that the intention to commit the assault had to precede the breaking in. So full marks to Ronno.

I stand corrected - but don't you then have the right to wallop the culprit using reasonable force if you demm his entry into your house to be Hamesucken? Either way someone's getting a doing!

A hundred years or so ago I did someone for Hamesucken, but the Fiscal changed it to serious assault. No sense of tradition...
