Can anyone tell me what has happened to Prestige, please?

If the rumour is true that they're no longer there, anyone know of any plans for other BMW dealers somewhere near me? It's a long-enough trip already...

Robin.

Thyey cease to be an official bmw dealer from the end of today, they will however be trading till they run their stock down. No new dealership is taking over at present in the south east - could be a while before a new one opens.

A group of us have negotiated a servicing / parts deal with another dealer, anyone else interested...send me a pm or e-mail at nadeemb AT mac.com

From what I have heard Cooper Tunbridge Wells are opening a Bike dealership.

But for the Kent area Brian Giles is the man, he can service bikes under warranty without any issues, can fit tyres and get spares. He has loan bikes and his labour rates aren't the same as BMWs. He gets my vote.

I saw the guy from Prestige that smokes a lot (don't know his name) in SLM at the weekend. Looking for a new job perhaps?

That'll be Steve, the service manager ;)

My R1200GS is booked in for its first annual service tomorrow (Sat 1 April) with Prestige, having just read this thread I'm very concerned :( .

Do I still take the bike in?

What happens to my warranty?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks

I was told that the service stamp goes back at the end of today, so they cannot stamp your service record - best to check...if that's the case, we have a deal set up at Park Lane for servicing - you can e-mail me for details at nadeemb AT mac.com

Where is he based? :nenau

Follow up..

After speaking to Steve at Prestige, I was reassured and took my 05 R1200GS bike in for its first annual service on Saturday as previously arranged.

In addition to the service they updated/reprogrammed the ABS, KOMBI & ZFE software (also gave me the print out - as they have no need for it now!), did the anti-squeal mod to the brakes under warranty and stamped the handbook with the BMW service stamp. The invoice was on the same BMW paper as before. They also supplied me with a loan bike, generally the good service we have come to expect from Prestige. :thumb

I understand the diagnostic equipment used to check/update the software etc is due to go back to BMW at Easter.

I really feel for the guys at Prestige who have been badly let down by BMW :spitfire .

We need a BMW dealer east of the greenwich meridian ASAP

I would not assume that they have been let down by B*W that will lay at the feet of a chap whose first name starts with S & surname with J :(

Spoke to steve this morning about Prestige.

Two of the techs leave at the end of this week, but Keith and Steve will be there until the end of May to wrap everything up.
They will be able to do some work on the bikes, and any parts in stock they can sell and fit, but they will not be able to order any parts from BWM if they do not have them stock.

Also spoke to Tony Jakeman from BMW Bracknell about the the closure of Prestige. They are sorry that it leaves a big geographical gap, but they are working on a solution which may be in the Tunbridge wells area.

Brian is based in Pembury. Can be contacted on 01892 823514. Just did the 78k service on my bike plus replaced clutch & starter motor, repaired wiring loom (almost certainly damaged by careless main dealer). Cost an arm and a leg, but still a leg cheaper than a main dealer, and I trust him more than any main dealer between London and CWs.
