I'm slightly confused over the final price of a 1200 otr.

I've just been quoted £8,700 by my dealer BUT he added on another grand or so for ABS and heated grips. With luggage that would make it an almost 11 grand bike!

BMW's main website says the bike comes with ABS for the £8,700 price, but the dealer is adamant that it's an extra.

What's the truth?

Well if he's lying they all are!
It seems the website isnt quite correct, and this year indeed an ABS and heated grips one will cost a princely £9.7k...roughly.
There's quite a few ex-BMW machines in dealers for about £8.7k similarly kitted, 6k ish on the clock year old.

The 2004 price was9275 inclusive of hand guards/abs/l&r pannier fixings which all came standard and not available as delete options.

Now it seems we can have the add on option to a cheaper basic bike spec but the prices have increased for 2005.

Take a look at www.bmw-motorrad.de to check out the domestic German Euro pricing and then go to www.ebay.de bike section and you could get a BMW dealer selling at a good price on bikes allocated to him but as yet unsold. But be aware that you usually have to add almost E400 for OTR and the dealer will need to help you to get short term German insurance to go with the "Z"designation German export plates otherwise it cannot be registered.
