Went out today to look for a replacement for my old Shoei Synchrotech II and tried on the Multitech which I really liked until I saw the price - £429!!! ALmost 'road tested' it as fainting fit looked very likely. The old Shoei cost me £250 so I thought I'd look on the web to see if there were any around but much to my surprise found loads of cheap Multitechs. Cheapest so far is £270. Now I am really confused. Why the enormous price differential? Is there a Multitech II already or is it just some retailers trying it on?

£270 sounds about right. I paid £250 but that was at a bike show. Current model came out in 2007....i think

My missus bought one at the NEC bike show last year via the Infinity stand for £230 in cool matt black, she thinks its great!

Good buy as it included 2 visors clear and tinted, whisper strip thingy, pinlock and helmet bag

I'd shop elsewhere if I were you - vastly overpriced. You could try Infinity motorcycles. I don't think they sell helmets on line, but they stock the Multitec in their stores. They had an offer on a little while ago with 10% off if you are a loyalty card holder (you can sign up in the store on the day to get your discount). You also get the loyalty points which when I got mine made a saving of nearly £50. The guys in our local Infinity (Southampton) are generally up for doing a deal too.

I was in Rivetts in Letchworth yesterday and they had the Multitecs at £330. That seems to be the list price now, which is a big jump from the old list price of £285.

Actually, it was Infinity who was quoting £429.99. Have just checked their web site to make sure I wasn't dreaming. They do urge you to join club infinity to get the 'incredible' price of £419.19.

Anyone from Infinity out there like to comment? Are your lids gold lined or something?

Shouldn't this be in the Heels on Wheels section, as an extension to a thread on, "Have you seen the price of cauliflowers?'

Bought one yesterday for the mrs quoted £290 on sunday but £299 yesterday tried to blame the price rise on exchange rate!,I bought a hornet ds at the same time and he did us a deal £520 for both-result!,millenium superbikes,he did say its the current stock and any special orders would be over £400,so buy now or keep an eye out for dealers going bust and buy in there closing down sale

Deflation! What deflation!

When current stocks of a lot of kit run out, and new imports come in, everything will be more expensive. Buy now - it'll be dearer later in the year.:rob

On a not unrelated topic I was talking to my friendly BuMW dealer yesterday who said BuMW is looking at price rises again. Why? Because the Jap bikes are having to put their prices up and BuMW need to maintain their premium status to set themselves apart from the rest of the market!

We couldn't have a Jap bike costing more than a BMW could we!!:augie

When hubby bought mine in December it was around £350, less 10% plus the bonus points. Give your local store a call it may be cheaper.

Bought mine from helmetcity, they are now advertising them at £297 on their website but £261 via their ebay shop (I bought mine from them, excellent service).

Thanks SiMo. Ordered mine today.

For the record, Feridax are now quoting an SRP of £430 so I guess we know where it's all going. We could always take a leaf out of the Nigerians book...

To add insult to injury my missus actually only paid £220 :D

Bloody hell!!!! That is one hell of a hike from the old SRP of £285!!!! That's a 50% increase!!!

I got one from J&S in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago, normal price £329 but were doing 20% off all kit (may still be) and I paid £264 which I was chuffed with. It came with whisper kit, spare smoked visor and pinlock (as they all do I think).

Still wainting for delivery of my new Adventure so can't tell you how good it is lol

I bought my Multitech from a local Yamaha dealer who mistakenly kept the old price tag on when I made my first enquiry back in Early Jan. They had put it up from £285 to £330 but as I'm a regularly customer they said they would honour the original price whilst stocks last. Bought it about 2 weeks ago for £285 and they told me that Shoei will be putting the price up to £430 early April because of the exchange rate and apparently they lost 30,000 recently in the exchange rate between leaving the factory/country and being shipped to this country? It's not just Multitechs but all of their helmets are going up!

One of the cheapest prices on the internet is £296.99 + postage from www.gearchangeonline.com so £285 locally with no postage was a good deal.
