Hi,

I'm new here and am thinking about buying a Dakar 650 in the UK.

In a nutshell:
2005 twin spark, 15000 miles, centre stand, Touratech pegs, new head bearings, 1 year tax, new tyres, new sprocket & chains, centre stand.
Partly home serviced, partly BMW but no logbook.

I looked at the bike yesterday and gave it a quick spin. All sound – but a little bit of corrosion on the front of the engine. It's just a small patch (left hand side of the engine, to the right of the gasket).

Does £3600 sound OK for it?

Thanks in advance!!!

No logbook:nono

I would have to think long and hard about parting with my cash for a bike with no logbook:nenau

Hi,
Sounds ok......But no Logbook????
Sorry but alarm bells would be ringing!:rob
What reason for no logbook?

logger heads

would the Pixie (Hello and Welcome by the way:) ) be referring to the service logbook?
dead right - avoid a bike with no ownership documents / but even if it's a reference to the service history - i'd be wondering WHY no paper trail for such a new bike.

Good Luck:thumb2

I bought it in the end...

Hi,

Thanks for your replies!
I bought the bike in the end. BMW confirmed they had done part of the services (i.e. valves) – the owner did his own oil/filter changes. That's why BMW wouldn't sign the service book. I can kind of understand why the previous owner serviced it himself – it's pretty much what I will do as well as it's so much cheaper.
