Prices announced on the new R1200GS

My speculation

Basic £12.5k
Middle Spec £13.8k
Top Spec £15k

Makes my 2009 GSA look a total bargain when I bought it new for £10.5k! (With free panniers!!)

Slight adjustment for your delight & pleasure!:thumb

ducati dont sell anywhere as many MS as bmw do GS. Set too high a price and sales will fall. Yamaha totally screwed up their pricing ...look at sales of FJRs when they went 15k +...
For me I look at value rather than price; and if I can justify the cost of a bike which is after all a leisure item for most; and when second hand bikes can be obtained quite cheaply, a new bike has to offer something extra for the buyer.
I think the price of the last gen GS was about right, and the residuals enable thi sprice. Ducati owners are rich...they have to afford big new price and big depreciation. If this translates to bmw...it will hurt them.I actually bought bmw cos of the rubbish triumph residuals !

Its no wonder bm want to fully consider the price......

It will be slightly higher than the Trumpet Explorer

Give it a good look over at the bike show, looks great.

But after spending years doing all the little mods you need to do get the GS just how you want it. Is it going to enhance my life enough to stump up a load more cash. Then wait 12 months for all the companies who make the modified parts to catch up?

Nope
I went from a New twin cam GSA and "down sized" to a 05 GS with big miles and 9k cheaper. The question is did the GSA give me 9K's more enjoyment? Was it 9k better?
No and No.

There is no doubt the LC will be a brilliant bike, ffs they have even put the indicators right.
Heart says yes - the head (and wallet) say no thanks - not yet

Was the price of the new GS announced at the show?

Nope they say we will not know the price before Feb!

BM staff at NEC expect price to be similar to current they will not make the same mistake as other manufacturers. Also mentioned BM pricing on scooter's was a big cockup hence poor sales.

Have they learnt? We will see 1st Feb!

I will wait until the GSA is available, the gremlins have been ironed out and then I will get a 12 month old private sale, low mileage version same as I did with my '08 GSA. By then I'm guessing it will be 6 years old with 60K on the clock - time to change perhaps. That's if something better doesn't come along....

My work (and touring) buddy and I are replacing our bikes after loosing them in a fire...

He's gone for the WC one.. I'm buying a loaded GSA in January.

My reasons are that I've not ridden it, I'm not up for a development unit, and I don't know what it cost... (and I do like the Twincam changes over my 2005 GS)

But.. I am keeping it open to trade mine in on the 2nd generation WC GS(A) in a couple years...

Al...
