Pricing of new RT's ?

BMW have found a simple way of extracting an extra £125 from you

Well done to them

It's called 'profit engineering'

Same with the new 1200 GSA - they charge extra for the olive & blue ones, because they know they are popular

Just squeezing your pips a little bit harder

Suck it up & enjoy them getting their hands deeper into your pockets :)

What are you all going on about?
If it's £125 for paint, then why not just accept it and pay it! You could however 'as a matter of principle' refuse to buy another new RT ever again...Like it or not £125 for paint will not stop anyone buying a new RT...And if it does, then they weren't serious about buying one!

It would certainly stop me from buying one. And I've been serious enough to buy 2 in the past.
If it was simply added to the 'base' price I'd be none the wiser & wouldn't worry about it but this way would make me feel that they were deliberately taking the pish & actually laughing at me.
Nope, it would definitely be a deal breaker for me I'm afraid.

Come on guys, these bikes are toys, they are not life or death, you don't have to buy them, stop going on about prices, I am paying £16000 for a toy so what's another £400 for the colour I want (its my choice no one is making me do it)

Recent post's £9000 for a push bike and lots of watches costing thousands of pounds
Spending money makes the world go round

Agreed - I suspect that BM have just made a mistake and forgot to import a "standard" colour into the UK like the white GSA.

Nice to know that my Green GSA is now a premium option that I did not have to pay for last year as opposed to the poor mans White version :D

I don't agree, and I suspect I'm not the only one either. These may be 'toys' as you call them but if you bought an item and it was extra for what you would expect to be standard would you just laugh it off ?? These bikes may well cost thousands, but to some of us thats a huge amount of money, maybe if you're a billionaire it's a mere bagatelle, but not to a large proportion of BMW's customers it isn't.

I've just bought a new Mafell KSS300 saw from Germany which saved me £200 over the UK cost, I wouldn't expect a saw blade to be extra, would you ??

So I take it you have cancelled your order for a new RT

Exactly!

That's exactly the sort of thing people who aren't serious about buying an RT say....

I don't understand your logic, I already have an RT a 2013 RT SE. I just didn't like the new RT I tried, the RS will be a totally different machine. What's wrong with that ??

That's exactly the sort of thing a cockend would say who was blinded by the BMW marketing machine :blast

Your right I was was blinded, but not by the BMW marketing machine, as slick as it is, but by the new RT being best bike I've ever ridden...that's why I purchased one....it's awesome!

Nothing wrong...I just remember you taking your 2013 RT into the dealership and getting a part exchange price against the new RT and I couldn't see the 'logic' of doing that if you didn't like it?
Agreed RS 'totally' different machine...really nice looking, but not for me...

No, I haven't ordered a new one, I tried a new one but preferred my TC. but will try the new RS when that comes out.

Agree with that. I have tried the new RT twice and still don't think its that much better. In some ways my 12 plate RT is better, such as my fairing storage pocket is massive compared to the new one which is just about big enough for a fag packet.

Agreed

Just because BMW have brought out a new version it doesn't mean it's better for all

Well I went into local (only) bike dealer today and spoke to head (only) honcho about this paint charging malarkey. He agreed it was nonsense and not down to BMW Germany but BMW UK.
I asked him about the extra cost and whether it would affect a deal, his reply was they would give extra discount to cover the cost. As it's a car dealership too, I asked what would happen if the car side started doing that, he didn't think they would get away with it.

The RS was due out in may but that's now been put back to August or even September, same as the 1000XR.
