I just thought I would share this, since Ive seen posts about people trying to prime master cylinder after servicing them.

on a gs 1150 adv I took the whole unit apart, taking out hte piston and giving it a clean. Then after a bit of fiddling about, I managed to get the circlip holding the piston back in and then re assembled the whole thing before putting the brake bleder on one of the caliper nipples (loostening the nipple of course) and then putting brake fluid ing the resivoir

this seems to be where people get stuck since the pump refuses to prime and youre stuck trying to do tricks like holding the brake lever in and letting gravility draw fluid through overnight ....

heres my trick

there is a silver dome nut with a hex key insert. loosten it and then squeezew the brake lever. tighten the bolt, release the lever, loosten teh bolt, tighten the lever and keep on (maybe 6 - 8 times) and blrake fluit will dribble around the bold

then when you see a little fountain of brake fluid come out of the hole on the master cylendar, then you know youre primed and ready to go !

the other thing I found (and didnt find andwers to - so im sharing again) was that my front brakes were binding - badly. It wasnt the calipers becaseu the released perfectly well when I unscrewed the nipple to let fluid out to allow my bike to move..

it wasnt the piston the master cylendar

it was however dsomethign I never considered until I had a lok at this...

and I realiesed that the return channel for the brake fluid (the tiny hole beside the big one in the master cylendar resivoir) was probably blocked with a spec of dirt

so i poked the hole with a needle and soemthign popped out - I cleaned it out and as above put it all together and away I went !

so remember - it might not just be calipers and this could explain that random brakes seixing up moment we all hear about
