Looking for some help in getting a good set of pro shell trousers, second hand may i add, I have been searching about on the usual places and coming across loads of different brands that say bonded or layered . Seen a few Hein gericke ones, Alpinestars, Revit amoungst others.
So need your help on this one please guys ?

The best is bonded goretex. But that process makes the garment quite expensive. Bonded gortex to the actual garment means that rain water can barely penetrate - it gets repelled almost immediately and beads off.

Goretex liners however, whilst being waterproof, allow your outer fabric to soak up water. This takes longer to dry out, can make you cold in the 'refrigeration' process, and often make the garment bulkier.

So the expensive bonded goretex is best if you can afford it.

I'd also say, always go with gortex. BM do 'CARE', Hein Gerrik (used) to do 'shelltex', but none are as good as the real thing.

The klim overland stuff is a good example of bonded goretex to a strong cordura fabric .... :thumb2

Got the Klim Traverse jacket so looking for something similar , had a few jackets and trouser set that have the 3 layer removable stuff and got fed up of the outer layer getting wet and heavy.
Seen these on ebay and many more similar, unsure if they are bonded or just have a non removeable liner.

Alpinestars Express Drystar Overpants

Features:

450 Denier fabrics with PU coating main construction with reinforcement material on knees and seat areas
Pre-curved leg construction
Waterproof and breathable Drystar membrane
Removable thermal liner
Reflective piping for night-time visibility
CE certified knee protectors

Mmmmmmmmm !

I'd personally avoid 'removeable liner' nowadays.

I'm a bit of a convert having got this klim jacket - I think it's bloody brilliant and wouldnt come away from bonded goretex now.

It's the bonded stuff i am looking at getting , need some help on which ones to get ? i know the Rukka and Klim stuff have it but they are out of my price range new and not many second hand ones come up, Looking for alternative brands that do the bonded stuff but can be found second hand.

Dont know the price range you are looking at but buying from BikerLand or FC Moto in Germany brings the price down compared to the ridiculous prices asked by UK dealers, and you are still getting the same warranty on the kit

Have a look at Dane.
I have the whole suit and it's perfect.
I imported mine from Holland 2 years ago. Too bad it's not a popular brand in the UK...

The HG Master suit is a touring suit made with Gore Tex ProShell which is the laminated product that you're looking for. If you can get one in your price range they are very good suits, I've never got wet in mine despite riding in some torrential weather. There were several versions, I think that it was the Mk4 which adopted the Gore waterproof zips. These can be a mixed blessing if you ride in a dusty environment as they get very sticky very quickly and need cleaning almost daily. The suit was well over £1,000 new so you'll do well to get one but still streets cheaper than Rukka.

I've also had other laminated faux Gore Tex products, not as good in my opinion as they've always leaked. I had 3 replacement BMW Coverall suits before I asked for a refund, they all leaked and the zips failed as well on the last one which was the final straw.

I had an HG Master V jacket (the old style Zip variety) and it was a great jacket until it went purple. With the resultant refund by Gore to the full amount (because they said it was also leaking) I paid for the jacket 4 years earlier, I bought a Klim Badlands jacket. The Klim is far superior to the HG in terms of quality but doesn't have a separate thermal liner. That said it didn't take too long for me to adjust to the principles behind layering which I now find much more flexibile to my use. If I had to make the same choice now and money was no object I would go for the Klim.

Been on them and for the pro shell stuff it is still out of my price range. looking at spending around £200 and that's why i am looking second hand.

Are these similar to pro shell ? they are said to have shelltex which i have read is the Hein Gericke version

Shelltex isn't as good as proshell. It's still pretty waterproof but nothing like as breathable. I have HG gloves in both proshell and shelltex, I always end up with sweaty hands with shelltex. Don't get me wrong it does a good enough job just not as good but then it's a lot cheaper.

Only the HG Master V suit used Gore-Tex Pro Shell. The previous iterations of the Master series used Gore-Tex drop liners. Master IV was a very good jacket - I had one - but not quite as waterproof as Master V which for me has been bombproof. Also, the Master V jacket was originally sold with a double front zip and later models were fitted with the Gore Lockout closure zip.

Gore-Tex Pro Shell is definitely the way to go. I wear my Master V jacket with a pair of Rukka Pro Shell trousers which were originally c. £800 when they were new. I got mine on eBay for much less than that. Bargains are to be had, if you're patient but you'd be lucky to get a pair for as little as £200.

Many thanks for your opinions guys , lots of good info and suggestions so will keep searching.
A friend of mine sells the Dane, Difi, Kushitani range but still slightly out of my budget and yes i agree they are top quality suits.

For a cheap option, buy army goretex over trousers and stick with ya non waterproof stuff if it doesn't rain. Not ideal I know, but cheap and just as effective. My us army goretex suit was brilliant and sold me on goretex laminate. Now have a klim overland suit which is excellent like the us army gear, but that little more convenient.

+1 this, I have army gortex over trousers that I carry in the summer just in case. They work really well and weren't expensive.
