I do my own annual servicing on my 1100 Monster but every 5 years the belts need changing and it's time to have a desmo service which I leave to the professionals. As my supplying dealer (Laguna Ashford) are no longer a Ducati dealer I decided to give independent Pro Team Italia in Strood a go. They work out of a small unit but when I visited they were busy with a number of bikes being worked on, I do like to see the mechanics at work. A few hours after dropping the bike off I received a pic of my stripped down bike being worked along with an update. I opted for the full desmo service which includes all filters, plugs and fluids as well as new belts. On collection the bike had been cleaned (it was pissing down when I rode the bike there, wish I had booked their collection service) and the mechanic (a previous 1100 owner) who did all the work and did the final test ride chatted to me about what he found. Some missing fixings had been replaced, my gear leaver had been straightened he had cleaned a number of areas normally inaccessible under the tank which Laguna had obviously never bothered with. On collection the job sheet gave me info on what shims had been replaced with sizing and a long check list, it really felt like the bike had received a proper service. Final price was £620 which I can easily live with every 5 years. They are good outfit that I would definitely recommend.

Sounds like a good job at a good price. My mate had his 1200 Multistrada in at Sykes Ducati to sort out a mystery misfire & Desmo service that set him back £1600. Ouch!
He lives near Battle so I’ll send him the link.

£620, that's a good price with everything. Wish i could find a trustworthy independent up here in the midlands.
I use Cornerspeed at Sutton in Ashfield. Although they have been appointed as an official Ducati service centre they were independents and still maintain that vibe. No bike sales or corporate stuff there, just guys who know Ducatis backwards.

Excellent, doing the shims on a desmo head is no small undertaking. Looks like they understand bikes and customer service.
Only 2 valves per head on the 1100 but still not something I'm comfortable doing. Screw and locknut on a Honda Dominator single was OK 🙂IMG_20261030_164547891_HDR.jpg
