Problem downloading from SP III to PC

Whenever I try to download a route/waypoint etc from my Streetpilot III to my PC it fails after getting to about 20% with the following msg:

"Error communication with device, please make sure device is plugged in and restart blah blah blah"

I have tried restarting the GPS but to no avail.

There is no problem downloading from the PC to the SP III.

I am on Mapsource V 6.12.2

Anybody got any ideas what is causing this

Try downloading the serial / usb drivers again?

Clutching at straws though
