guys, need some advice on this. went to start my 2006 GSA yesterday and when i turned the key in the ignition to on, the bike started automatically without pushing the start button. switched the ignition off and turned on again, same thing, bike started automatically. checked the start button to see if it was stuck, tried again and same thing, this time the EWS warning came on. switched everything off, and activated kill switch by start button. Turned on ignition and deactivated kill switch, same thing, bike started automatically, but no EWS warning. Evertime the bike starts, you can hear the starter motor still engaged, so gave it a little rev and this seemed to disengage the started motor. This morning the same thing happened again, but had to go to work. Got to work, ans switched everything off. Turned ignition on and nothing. Pushed starter button and she fired up.

Does anyone know what this is about and if this will be covered under extended warranty?

EWS may be a side affect of a flattening battery, suspect if the starter button is ok its a fault in the starter motor itself, on a previous bike I had to strip the solenoid down, probably that or a wiring issue?? i assume these motors have solenoids like any other bike

There's a thread in here somewhere about indicators staying stuck on which was eventually traced to water getting in through perished rubbers under the buttons on the bars and completing the circuit- same sort of age bike. - My fiver says you've got something along those lines- there's been a lot of rain about over the last few days.

Let us know how you get on.

I'm inclined to agree.

Yep me too, most likely a faulty switch. I doubt its anything to do with a welded solenoid on the starter because that's hard wired to the battery so turning the ignition off wouldn't kill the starter. If your handy with a soldering Iron you can get new switches from Farnells but there is a minimum order I think. Its C&K Components that make them.
